What is up w/ USC?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got the "encouraging" letter, as did Hero and Superdood. I suggest emailing Dr. Quinn directly (you can find it by searching their website), and asking very nicely how your chances look. She straight up told me at the beginning of June that my chances were good, and long and behold, three weeks later she called. Don't get me wrong, I managed to chew entirely through my upper lip, nose and forehead while waiting, but still, it was nice to know during the wait that my chances were good.

Glitch post as well. Why does SDN mobile do that?

My wait-list letter goes like this:

Please realize that the alterante list is not ranked...we offer limited numbers of acceptances until the admissions committee review processes have been completed.

my letter is just like yours except it told me that a quarter of the class comes from the waitlist and that that i need to remain encouraged

I guess USC is just trying to be nice, but it does seem like they are being intentionally misleading when they tell some students their list is unranked. Sounds like they are ranked and they tell the kids higher on the list to remain encouraged. I guess it makes the people who are lower-ranked feel better to tell them it is not ranked. Either that or for whatever reason USC is arbitrarily giving some kids more information and giving them extra encouragement.

Very strange. Either way, good luck to you guys. Being on waitlists without an acceptance already in your pocket must take a lot out of you. I am rooting you you all.

Most of the people in this thread before your post are probably attendings now.

As an aside, it's really weird to know that save for the two necrobumps, this thread was last active when I was still in middle school.

Stupid SDN mobile

Stop trying to raise your post count, Amba! 😛

Although I must say that USC is a little odd right now in that it's already on January interview dates. :scared:

I was so confused reading about people still on wait lists in October. Wow, this is an old post. How'd it get here?
