LOL@Apollyon

You crack me up man. Don't ever stop posting. 😀

Anyway, this thread has been immensely entertaining. 👍

It has been for me. A doc calls nurses idiots and it's acceptable and medical students with opinions don't matter (or us news ranking... unfortunately data says otherwise). 🙂

Medicine is awesome. I can't wait to be a pretentious attending!

I just want to say, as a EM PGY1 who's been following this forum since I was an MS1, I've greatly appreciated Birdstrike's input, posts, and articles. I hope you continue to post here regularly. Also, I get a little sad when I see you've deleted a post before I get to read it - that means there was probably something juicy in it.

PS This article was excellent, and brought up several points that I had never really fleshed out in my own mind. Thank you.

If you're referring to my post (which I think you are, but may be wrong), you really need to work on your reading comprehension skills. Go back and read what I wrote.

I think of all the fields we in EM are probably nicest to the nurses. We depend on them more, we are accessible to them. I doubt any EM doc ANYWHERE regularly or even infrequently calls nurses "idiots".

I wont go into a whole thing about nurses on here but a pre-clinical person really just lacks the perspective to appreciate the nuances and day to day of being a doc in the pit.

I get why Bane felt the need to defend himself by telling us his USNWR school ranking etc.

I will say it matters little in EM. Personality matters more. Work ethic matters 10x more. In my residency I went to an Ok med school. I am a terribly hard worker (clinically), I rocked my 3rd yr rotations etc.

I was named chief over stanford, Michigan etc folks.. All this from a guy from an OK med school. PDs know this and look at more than just this in EM. Perhaps in Derm or other such fields that stuff matters more but not in REAL medicine.

Now who is pretentious? Guess what, buddy? It's you!

Provide your evidence (instead of your blather) that students from your school and others so ranked do "better" - what, are you saying that they get more specialty matches?

See, you don't know what you don't know, and you have no character - you said you were leaving, but, here you are, back again. You are sucked in by every little bit, and you dig an even deeper hole. You throw out more insults, yet don't step up and show any dignity or fortitude.

And the "filthy" comment was someone concluding that, because I said I was an FMG, I was from a third world country with poor hygiene and little public health. I really, REALLY don't care what some misinformed, pretentious, snotty, snobby kid thinks or doesn't think.

You are gutless, and you don't have my respect. If you said the same to me, I would take that as a larger insult (although, if you did, and you didn't substantiate it, then it would have the same worthless value as everything else it seems you post - you were even called out by the OP). And, if you would rather be liked than respected, I believe you are failing in both cases.
