For someone who wants to listen to music yet wants to tape lectures for later to download to computer?

Any good flash ones out there for large lecture halls?

Anyone have experience in this? I'm looking at iriver 320 but heard interface is challenging? Any thoughts?

There is one I just purchased earlier today -- Creative Nomad Muvo TX -- it is 84.99 with free second day shipping at www.zipzoomfly.com

It's only 512 MB, but the specs say it can voice record up to 32 hours on its full 512 mb. It has really good battery life as well, and works as a flash drive with absolutely no cables...you just pull the pin out and stick it in the USB drive. The downsides to it(not to me, but people looking for huge space) are probably that it's not expandable and the voice recording quality probably isn't all that great. I think the max size you can purchase with this model is about 1 gig.

edit: Yeah...probably not what you're looking for in terms of size 😀. The iriver would eat mine hahaha

lol thanks. I think I'm going to get a hard drive and a mini mp3 (for working out etc) but if I found a mini that would record well in a lecture hall I would probably buy it.

I just bought a new 20gig iPod with a color screen. It's rated as having a 15-hour battery life. After using it this past week, I got nearly 20 hours out of the thing!

I thought it was time to get rid of the 15gig iPod that I've had for 2.5 years... well, sort of get rid of it. I'm using it in my car thanks to an iPod car adapter that lets me listen to music in my car. Now I have all 1,900+ songs from my iPod available in my car. SWEEEEET!

Msheaddoc, what did you end up getting? A Shuffle might suit you best for working out (that's what I use for rollerblading, jogging, and lifting weights).

i still haven't gotten one. My financee wants an Ipod, so I think I might surprise him with one and I'll get a shuffle.

Does shuffle work if I want ot record lectures? Anyone know?

Congrats southerndoc. I wish I had the money right now but kinda tight!

No, the Shuffle will not record lectures. It's a very, very basic player.

Where are you located? Go to your local Apple store and check them out. Go to www.apple.com, click on Where to Buy at the top of the screen, and then on the right of the screen you'll see an option to select the state you live in. That will show you all the stores near you.
