Hey guys!
I've seen that if you are averaging 40% in your qbanks soon before your test you should probably postpone it, and I assume that if someone is averaging 90% they are going to do pretty well on the actual thing. But I haven't seen anywhere that talks about qbank scores in relation to being ready to pass the test. I'm more talking COMLEX but would be interested for USMLE. If you are averaging 70% is that roughly correlated to just passing? 60%? I'm not talking a great score- just want a reference for what is the 'passing zone.' And is it different for different Qbanks (UWorld, Kaplan, COMbank)?
Thanks!!

oops the title of this should read "What % answered correctly..." sorry! 🙂

I think a 60% isn't too bad. These threads have some folks scoring 60%-70% and doing very well on Step 1. I would hazard a guess that above a 50% would indicate a comfortable passing score.

definitely depends on the qbank. USMLE World is considered one of the more difficult ones, but if you are averaging > 50% there, you should pass - albeit with a substantial chance of failure. the other ones, I couldn't say.

i've seen the formula

2.4(UWorld%)+84 = three-digit Step score

chucked around a little, but it's a few years old now and appears to overpredict at the top end.

For someone aiming for a 240 what would be a reasonable % to get on UW? I've heard people say 70-75%, does that sound right?

What about different QBanks...

Rx: 55%
Kaplan: 68%
UWorld: didn't start on it yet

Possibly got used to Kaplan while Rx has been more recent? Or what.

Is Rx or Kaplan closer to UWorld/the real thing? [If you absolutely had to choose one]

I've seen this tool to estimate your score, but keep in mind it was created by a service that has a board review program to sign up for ... but it does allow you to put in multiple bank scores and UWorld self assessment scores to estimate your real score.

Sorry- you can copy/paste the link and delete the spaces (1 after the http://, 1 between 'clinical' and 'review' and one after the .com/ -- for some reason it wouldn't keep my link intact in my post.

Yeah, I think it predicts better if you add 74 instead of 84.
