Ok, so my last post was way too lengthy and got a bit crazy so let's try this again. Basically I am an IMG coming off a long leave of absence so I need to start from scratch and plan to take about 8 months to prepare.

I was planning to do Uworld questions after each subject from my kaplan lecturenote readings during my first read and use it to learn the concepts better and learn to apply what I'm learning as I learn it (can adjust studying according to question style). This would be done during months 1-3. After this I was going to go through the material again + FA and probably use usmlerx or kap qbank at this time. And then during my final one month push I would go back to Uworld to solidify the concepts. However, a lot of people are telling me not to waste Uworld questions so early on and to save it for my last push only and to start with Qbank (IMG advice).

It seems like IMG's love to start with Kaplan Qbank and then finish with Uworld, but it seems most people on this forum seem to think that qbank is just a bit too low yield and filled with unnecessary questions.

So what do you guys recommend for someone in my position?
I'm guessing my Uworld averages will start in the 30-40% range when I first begin and it will whoop my behind a bit, but I think it may help me learn concepts better rather then doing questions from random sources which only test recall and not ability to apply concepts like the exam.

I've read multiple posts recently that said Kaplan Qbank was very much like the real exam. I'm doing it now and it certainly has its fair share of tough questions, especially selecting all disciplines with all levels of difficulty. I am planning on switching to UWorld once I finish Kaplan, but I think Kaplan has been good for me so far. It hammers in those small details that get overlooked in FA. The explanations also hammer in the larger concepts while still giving you the details. I like it so far.

I don't really know how long you have to study, but I like Qbank so far and I am sort of excited to see how much/if it helped once I begin UWorld.

I recommend doing Kaplan Q Bank (with Kaplan Lectures & Notes) first followed by USMLRx (with FA, Pathoma & Goljan) and save the UWorld (with FA) for the last but make sure that you do it twice at least and have a week or two for final revision of FA and your HY Notes, Path slides etc

I did Kaplan videos and lecture notes annotated into FA
Read FA.
Went on to do UWorld twice- A big mistake at that stage!
I wish I had done RX to navigate thru FA first and get familiar with questions then do Uworld as an additional learning and familiarizing tool to real deal and redo only wrong/guessed ones.
There are pros and cons with doing uworld too early. Pros- you'll know your subject content more solid. Cons- At this stage its more of a learning tool than anything like reinforcement. Kaplan.... would rather strengthen with more of uworlds and repeat FAs may be...or your personal choice as a standby.
