So at this point I have all my secondaries done, and kind of want to add another DO school or two. I only applied to 4: OUCOM, PCOM, LECOM-erie, and AZCOM.

My question is, what school or two would you add to this list? I'm looking for schools in the midwest mainly, but am considering the following schools: DMU, LMU-DCOM, Pikeville, William Carey, and maybe PCOM-GA. Anyone that has looked extensively into some of these schools or even toured/interviewed have any recommendations, or even a school to add to this list that I should consider?

What's important to me in a school is pretty much the norm: they set students up well for COMLEX, quality rotations, nice scenery and outdoorsy stuff to get involved in around campus. Thanks for any advice!

What about CCOM? It's a pretty good school as well.

The tuition cost is what scares me away from CCOM, and what makes me second guess applying to AZCOM. If I can get the same quality for 10k less a year I may as well go that route, though Chicago is an amazing area (even if Downers Grove is 30 minutes out).

If you're looking midwest, besides DMU, why no KCOM?

KCOM is 51K a year. Your expected budget is ~91K. That's craziness! If he's looking to cut costs I don't think KCOM is the right school for the OP.

I would second DMU. It looks like a great school.

Yeah, it seems like most DO schools' tuitions are in the same range... craziness!!!

Ooops, nm. I ended up on the dental med pdf... Good catch.

No biggie, after you posted that I had to check for myself...was quickly having second thoughts about the school. Funny how a little bit of pocket change, 40k, can do that to a person's decision.

Haha. So true. I think since most DO schools are ~40k a year cost of living becomes really important, at least to me. This is where living in BFE can really pay off.

Lucky for us that we have OU as in-state which seems to be one of the cheapest options available to anyone!

Doesn't meet your location criteria, and it's strictly PBL, but LECOM-Br is ~25/26k a year.

The area around the school is really nice suburban type area and still reasonable prices for housing. Clinical years can be a little hit or miss depending on where you go but you have a ton of flexibilty in years 3/4 so some stay in the Tamp/St Pete/Bradenton area whole others go back out of state and set everything up for back home.

COMLEX-wise we've done extremely well the past couple years as well.

You've got the midwest schools down, but if you don't mind expanding a bit towards the east coast, PCOM is great, and if you are willing to do NY, Touro's NY campus is cheap (32k), though cost of living is high, and they tend to overweight MCAT and underweight GPA relative to other schools (imo).

CCOM is expensive but cost of living is nowhere near what it'd be in Chicago, or in any big city.

i'm international student though... so even if i've live in ohio for 5 years, they still count me as OOS 🙁
