Hi guys! I have listed my stats below. I am a bit late in the cycle. Any input is extremely appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time 🙂

Overall GPA: 3.26
Overall Science: 3.13
MCAT: 24 (retaking in Jan)
Extracurriculars:
-3 years clinic
-2 years lab research
-MD shadowing (need to shadow DO and get LOR)
-Scribe
-Internships at Kaiser and Sutter

It's the middle of the cycle so many schools are already sending out their acceptances to many apps. The list I would apply to:

CUSOM (though I would ask bc they have a GPA requirement)
LECOM
VCOM

Many of the other DO's (CCOM, AZCOM, PCOM, MSUCOM, Rowan, Nova) have MCATs ~ 28+ and GPA's 3.5/3.6+ so applying there I don't think would yield too much good stuff. Honestly, FWIW, I would retake the MCAT, do some grade replacement, and then apply next year. You don't want to apply mid/mid-late way through the cycle and have strike 1 if you don't get in anywhere.

Do not apply to CUSOM. They will autoscreen you after you submit your secondary since your sGPA did not meet the 3.2 threshold.

Your stats would not yield good results when you're already in the middle of the application cycle. You need to retake MCAT, and do just a little bit of GPA repair if you want to get into good DO schools.

You are going to have a large amount of difficulties netting interviews at this point. If possible, I implore you to apply early next cycle with your new MCAT score.

There is not much more I can suggest other than what others have already posted, but I will say this--try not to rush in to applying to medical school when you are not ready. It is an amazing feeling to know that you could possibly be days away from officially submitting your primary/secondary applications and it is possible you could be accepted and attending medical school by this time next year, but this notion can be just as detrimental as it would be glorious. This biggest piece of advice I could ever give someone with respect to applying is to make sure that application you are about to submit is as good as you can possible get it. If you know that maybe next year you could have a greatly improved application to submit, then I strongly urge you do that.

Said differently, I would not recommend applying this cycle unless you feel prepared enough to do well on the MCAT before mid November, but even then it's still not a very good idea in my own opinion. Do what you feel is right, but I say do not apply until you have a new MCAT score and I believe rushing your application shows somewhat a dash of immaturity.

Best of luck to you, ODO!
