3.18 cgpa. 3.48 sgpa. Strong upward trend. 3.65 upper level bio gpa. 25 mcat (6vr 8 ps 11bio). New York resident. Solid ECs. Good LORs from professors and a DO. What schools should I apply to this upcoming cycle?

agree. Retake is advised but you could pull of an acceptance this cycle of you get lucky.

This is one of those rare moments where I say apply earlier and broadly. The VR 6 is a big issue, but with the exam changing, it would be just as much of a risk to retake it without multiple practice exams to help you (they seem to only have one currently with a second one being offered the following year).

The 6 verbal is an issue but I don't think its an absolute death sentence if you apply well. The 11 bio also helps. Here is a list of schools to consider.

Unless you are taking extra courses, I cannot recommend applying to KCUMB because they require a cGPA/sGPA above a 3.25 for interview consideration. And that seems to be a hard and fast rule unlike the requirement of having a 7+ in each subsection of the MCAT (I know this from...personal experience). I would also cut out RVU as well, they are surprisingly stat heavy.

Many schools are a bit more forgiving with a low VR in comparison to a low PS or BS.

Its possible, apply the first day. I had a 7 then 6 in verbal but applied the first day and sent in secondaries right away. But really, you need to submit your app on the FIRST day.
