I am currently applying to dental school for next fall 2005. I wanted to know what were the chances of me even getting in (I'll go anywhere!). Here are my scores:

GPA: 3.0
Sci Gpa: 3.6
DAT (Kaplan): AA 15
PAT 21
I currently work at a dental practice and do reseach. I will be taking my DAT's in two weeks. Am I doomed?!?!

You're not doomed, you have a very good sci gpa and a great pat. Bring your AA up above 18+ and you should be good to go. This is just imo, though.

to echo zurik, i think your AA is on the low side. your gpa is fine and since you got 3.6 on your science gpa that's even better. may we ask what your scores were for the individual sections of the DAT? I think if you have low science sections, it will kind of negate your high science gpa. if i were you, i would retake the DAT...just my opinion though...good luck!

He hasnt taken the DAT yet...

The one he has posted is from Kaplan, which is typically more difficult than the real deal.

hahahhahahaahaha...wow i got juked...my bad...mm.....yeah...

actually, it would still be nice to see what you're getting in the different sections. other than that, rezdawg is right when he says kaplan is harder than the real deal but you shouldn't be content with getting a 17 or 18 on kaplan and thinking you will get a 20+ score on the real thing. just make sure you try your best and try to get 18AA or higher...good luck!

Hmmm 15.....with a 3.6

Something is not right

Well anyway, most schools will toss your app with a 15AA. Actually some schools may req a min of 16 (forget which ones)

Just study harder for the DAT

actually, those gpa's are calculated by my univerisity, NOT AADSAS. My school does not take averages of repeated courses, they take the higher grade. AADSAS calculates by taking the averages, so i may still be doomed. I'll post the new gpa's once AADSAS calculates them. thanks guys

I agree. You've got an uphill road ahead of you with those stats. But give it a shot anyway! You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, etc.

When I was preparing to take the DAT I was freaking out because I could never score better than 17 or 18 on the KAPLAN practice DAT or on TOPSCORE. I almost considered putting it off until the last minute to allow me to study more. However, I went ahead and took it and got 20 AA/TS 22/PAT 20. Good luck.

with a 3.0 gpa... make sure you do 19+ on the dat and apply to lots of schools. apply right now if you haven't already (don't wait another day). you could get in somewhere :luck:
