After 2012 the format of NBDE will be changed to pass/fail. This is a good news for people who have relatively low NBDE part I score now (between 75 - 85). So how will the schools select candidates? One of the most important factors would be the bench exam. The hand skills from the bench exam probably will become the determining factor to be accepted. So, my SDN FTD friends, one way to have more chance to get admitted to a dental school is to improve your hand skills by preparing the bench exam. Practice! practice! And more practice!
Last year when I prepared for the bench exam I bought a used handpiece on SDN but it did not work. So that was a ripoff. There are some people on SDN are not honest at all. So how can you avoid such ripoff?
This year I have the whole set equipement and materials that I can rent. The whole set includes:
1. Brand new silent dental compressor; 50 db, which means it sounds like a washing machine (usually 55 - 60 db) when it is working. This is very important if you live in an apartment. All the regular compressors from hardware store such as Sears or Homedepot make too much noise even your next door neighbor can not tolerate it.
2. Brand new hand piece;
3. Used typodont. You can choose either Kilgore or Columbia.
3. All the connecting tubes and turbine include pedal control;
4. Burs (including diamond burs);
5. Mounting poles that can be stably attached to a table top. It also allows you rotate so you can change the position of typodont.
6. Loupe. Almost brand new. Used for several times.
7. UCSF bench exam manual and UOP bench exam manual. These manuals specifically tell you the each step of the procedure and how the schools evaluate your preps.
I also have some information that you can buy some videos from someone else. These videos are commonly required preps: Class II, FGC, 3/4 crown, PFM, inlay etc. I was told that it also comes with a plaster model which is very helpful for your practice.
Anyone who is interested can send message to inquire about the price. There is a offseason discount. Offseason starts from the end of October (after California school bench exams) to the end of March (two month before the Colorado bench exam).The beauty of my business is that you don't need to worry about where and how to buy the equipments. I can provide you all. The best way is to rent it then return the whole package back to me. Beside, when you buy so many stuff separately, you waste your time and shipping cost. I can guarantee the quality of my stuff.
Thanks for your attention.
