  1. Pre-Medical
I'm a freshman and I'm pre-med I go to school out of state in alaska and love it. My question is what should be the max in loans not to suffer later in life in medical school my yearly bill for school including everything total is 24,000 I get about 4,000 in grants and I'm trying to get some more free money. I'm hoping to get in state tution by my Junior year. I took out a private loan to take some cc classes back home for the summer to make it cheaper and to gradurate on time my question is 65,000- 100,000 bad for undergradurate degree😕:scared:

That's very expensive. Of course it all depends on where you go to medical school. Your private loans are going to be expensive by the time medical school is over with. Plus, if you don't get into medical school what will you do with yourself?

That is on the high end. I would personally try to do what I could to minimize that even if it means leaving Alaska and going to my state school. Or if staying in Alaska is really important to you, it might be worth doing what you can to establish residency -- this usually means taking some time off from school or cutting back to no more than parttime while working.

Private loans will be very expensive with interest when you finish residency. It is a bad idea to take out private loans.

There is a maximum for federal loans---make sure you don't exceed this prior to finishing medical school.

Your total debt after medical school is over should typically be 150-250k.
