Applied to 15, heard negatives from 5, and now waiting for 10 more schools. I'm one of those ppl that have the high DATs but the not too stellar GPA. :[ Would anyone recommend adding in more schools to apply to? Or start looking for a master's to get on? Right now I have a 3.3 from UCI and am attending CC for the time being. I applied last year and the schools I had interviews at (Temple, Tufts, UNLV) told me that I just needed to apply earlier. Did that, and NOTHING changed. anyyyyy feedback would be great

Your DAT is excellent. The GPA is not too shabby because you have a high DAT to back it up. How are your LOR's and EC's? Those can be major factors. Are you working/shadowing? Also, have you had any interviews? Maybe they went bad. I would say just wait to hear from the other TEN schools. There is still plenty of time. Most schools don't fill very much of their class on Dec. 1st.

You don't have to apply for a master's until spring, therefore don't worry about that until after you have heard back from the dental schools.

Keep your head up and if you have to apply again. Improve your application through the EC's, volunteering, shadowing, etc..

I think you have a chance. Most likely in the second rounds of interviews. Just wait.

Thanks guys. But that's the thing, this is my second round of applying and I don't want to waste another year doing nothin. I've done the whole shadowing/interning bit already too. IMO I got great letters of recs from professors I personally talked to and kept up with for the remainder of those classes. I've done shadowing with several general dentists, an oral, and an orthodontist. All the EC's I've got down packed bc I was in a co-ed service frat and did lots of community service too. Is there anything in particular I SHOULD be doing to up my chances?

When did you apply last year? did you apply with a killer DAT? and how many schools did you apply to last year?

I have a 22AA/21PAT, but app was mailed nov 28th... heard from no where and i am scared...

I applied pretty late, like Oct 20th or so. I sent it out to 12 schools...now im thinking i should have sent it out to more. Does anyone know if there are any schools that would be still okay to apply to even though its PAST the december deadline?

Wow, I feel terrible for you guys. We do have similar dat scores....
I really do not have much community service.. only thing I got is shadowing for 50 hours... I think you guys will hear from the soon. I mean my app was completed in like mid september since I took the dat late. Keep your heads up guys it will happen.
