I just received an acceptance letter from WVCOM. If i accept the offer, I will have to mail pay the deposit ($3000) by Feb. 13th. But I am still waiting for the response from CCOM and NYCOM. If I accept the offer from WVCOM do I have to withdraw my application from other DO schools? What should I do? Any suggestion?
WVCOM is really nice school, but the out-of-state tuition is really expensive (over $40K). Is there anyway to become an instate student? Thank you.

you do not have to withdraw from CCOM and NYCOM after putting down a deposit. The deposit it nonrefundable so if you choose to matriculate somewhere other than WVCOM bye bye $3000 but now you are at a school you prefer of WVCOM.

WVCOM does not let you becom an in-state resident once you start.

did you interview at CCOM/NYCOM already?

I submit my ACOMAS very late (the end of November). So I haven't gotten interviews from CCOM or NYCOM

You are in a predicament with wether to hold a seat for the sure deal or gamble on rejecting for the unknown of NYCOM and CCOM? I usually act conservative on such matters, but a movie quote comes to mind for your situation by ol' Clint Eastwood. Here it is:

You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?

Best of luck.

I would pay the 3000. You might not get an interveiw at the other schools. I applied to KCOM and CCOM in december and got both interviews already.

Pay the deposit. Is it worth $3,000 to wait another year to start medical school in case you don't get into the other schools?

You are required to pay $ 2000.00 now and $1000.00 in mid March. You do not pay all now. I was in similar situation. I was waiting for results from NOVA . But I went ahead and paid the deposit of $2000/ in the first week of Jan because I had no other results out. Now I am accepted at NOVA and waiting for results from PCOM and Utah (MD). I hope to hear from PCOM before the second deposit of $1000/ is due. I have ruled out NOVA. My experience was bad! BUT I will forgo the $3000/ to WVCOM if accepted to Utah. You have to pay to be safe and than start ruling out. We have all spent tons of$$ going through undergraduate school, medical school admissions process. Not that i am a wealthy BUT be safe is my advice. Pay and play the game. $2000/ is not much if you look at the whole picture. Good luck.

Out of curiousity, why was your experience at NSUCOM bad?

Thank you for the advice. I will ask them if I could just pay the 2000 first. It is kind of confusing, because on the acceptance letter, it says to pay 3000 dollar deposit by feb 13. Last friday I just got my NYCOM interview for this week. O well .... I guess I have to get my foot in the door first right?
