Hi everyone,
I am in the process of applying for 2010 admissions for Texas dental schools. I plan to take DAT in early June and I pretty much have everything set other than waiting for my LORs to be completed and sent out and finalizing my essay.
After I take the DAT, I will be taking off to the Philippines for dental and medical mission trips with a top plastic surgeon in PI along with his colleagues. I am hoping to learn a lot from this experience, it will be my first time traveling to PI and having any kind of involvement in a mission trip. It's all too exciting and I really can't wait!
But, my question is if I should delay my application until I come back in early August or just send it in before I leave? I have read everywhere that I should turn it in as soon as possible to avoid any processing delays, but will it really affect my chances of getting an interview? I have a decent amount of volunteer/experience work, but it all occurred after I had graduated from college (a year ago). I know after I return I will have gained more experience in the healthcare field and more to speak about in my essay. I'd also like to have the doctor I will be working with write me a letter if possible. So, should I wait? or just get it out of the way so I can enjoy this trip?
