Hey guys I have my first lab practical on Friday (general chem lab 1). It will be 1.5 hrs long and that a part of it will be performing something that was covered in the labs. The thing is though, I'm not really sure what to expect. I wasn't really given a lot of info. I know that it will be open notes/book. I have been reviewing all my data lab sheets along with the labs in the lab manual. Other than this though, how do I really prepare/expect what is to come?

The practical covers:
- intro to data analysis/reactions with ordinary materials(lab 1)
-accuracy and precision in measurement of a salt solution(lab 2)
-determining chemical equations from mass relationships.(lab 3)
-knowing things such as calculating density, molarity, etc (basic stuff)

If you guys could give me some info/advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I would say know how to use the lab equipment to find each of those things and know the equations that are required for the content like molarity and density.

Why don't you ask your professor/ TA/ students from previous semesters? They will probably know more than random people on the internet who are not in your class.

I would know how to do all of that.

But seriously, its all in the name - lab practical. This is a test of your practical knowledge; how well can you apply the things you've learned? I'm sure you've spent some time in the lab, done a few titrations, dilutions, etc. Expect to use those skills within a specific context.

They're probably going to ask you to do something really hard, like synthesize plutonium from amino acids.
