I've been pretty set on applying to IU early decision program, but I've been told that I should still meet with their admissions office and they can give me a good idea of whether its smart to put all my eggs in one basket or not. I'm just wondering what I should be expecting for when I do meet with them or how I'm supposed to go about it. What should I have prepared for the meeting? Will I just be telling them my scores and stats and they'll be like yes apply or no don't apply? Should I just straight up ask them if they think it's wise for me to apply ED or what? I'm not really sure how a meeting like this goes.

They will look at your grades and MCAT to see whether you are statistically as good as their average student. They will talk with you and look at your activities to assess mission fit, and how they think you will fit in with the other students.

So does that mean I need to have my activities and PS done? And my transcript ready?

Have your app written and proofread. Treat this like an interview- be prepared to answer "Why medicine?" and "Why our school?"

That being said, if you were meeting my admissions office, this wouldn't be a test. It would literally just be to help you. I'm not sure how common that is though, we're a LOT friendlier/etc than many other med schools, it's part of our branding. This might just be a weirdly-labelled interview, I have no idea

Hey, I saw this and was wondering if you met with the admissions office and how that went. I'm also planning for IU E.D

and how they think you will fit in with the other students.

Depends on the school—it might be service orientation, scientific curiosity, openness and adaptability, ability to work well on teams, ability to work alone, empathy, maturity, a whole lot of characteristics. Each school is a little different. The student who would be the best fit at UVM would not be the best fit at Johns Hopkins; the one who would be perfect for Harvard might not be a good fit for Rush. You can get a sense of what schools are like from their websites and MSAR.

Adding, you also get a sense when you attend recruiting events featuring students and faculty, not just the admissions team or admissions leadership. Talking with students at the school can give you a much better insight than the marketing brochures and websites.

You are an international applicant from Canada. This is a service heavy school, but you will have an uphill battle for US MD schools as they generally all expect strong stats from international students. If you have already submitted your secondary, there is not much you can modify.
