What should we memorize for NMR, IR, Mass Spec?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Try learning as much as possible. Not just what pinetar321 wrote. I only memorized those and i got other values on the test and i didn't know.

Know the basics of HNMR and CNMR. Know what causes coupling and how to predict doublets, triplets etc. Know that dipole changes are what cause IR to work and that molecules without dipole changes are invisible to IR. Know the basic peaks for IR -OH -COOH -NH2 -C=O

What about Mass Spec? I remember when I took organic I had to figure out what a molecule was based on the mass spec graph. I'm HOPING there's nothing like that lol, but what should I know?

i have never seen, nor heard of anyone actually gettin a mass spec diagram on the test. i have, however, heard of and/or seen questions that would make reference to mass spec in regards of what it is used for.

Which is what? I know that it can determent specific fragments of a molecule and can therefore be used to distinguish between more specific molecules. Do I need to know more than that?
