I was wondering what you guys use for gen chem. I've heard some people say Kaplan and I've heard people swear by Destroyer. A lot of people say its more conceptual, but people say that the Destroyer has a lot of problem solving, which would seem like a bit of a waste. I've also heard others use their textbooks and some good online sources. Which one do you guys think is best? Which one prepared you the most for the gen chem section?

here's what i did...neither kaplan nor destroyer.

i went to the library...checked out AP & SAT review books. studied those well. did the practice problems in them.

sorry that it doesn't answer question.

How'd useing those work for you? What'd you end up getting on the GC portion of the DAT? If you don't mind me asking.

For my studying, I first reviewed the material by going over my old text book, but then really used the destroyer refine my knowledge. I found that the Destroyer has a balance btw concepts and calculations so you get both. Also, there's a lot of topics in the text book that aren't tested on the DAT so there's no point in learning every detail in a text book. I got a 26 on the gchem.

I think they are both useful. My test had more "conceptual" questions but even though destroyer has problem solving questions, the answers are what you should be looking at because that's what you're going to be tested on. I feel Kaplan gave me the review I needed to re-familiarize myself with the material but destroyer definitely gave me the information I needed for the section.
