Hey everyone,

I know that the official science GPA is computer using your bio, physics, math, and chemistry grades. Does this include, however, classes in the statistics department? How about "brain and cognitive sciences" courses? Also, what if the course is a science based course, but is listed as a non science course, like "Psychology 113: Biopsychology." Does the AAMC have official rules for this?

Thanks a lot!

for me i got "brain and cognition" (a communication sciences and disorders course) accepted as biology and "statistics for psychology" accepted as a math course. it sounds like a 50/50 draw for your biopsychology course. from what i've seen, pretty much any course with "bio-" in its title is accepted but most courses with psychology in the title are not. i took a gamble with submitting stats for psych and i lucked out. i'd say try using your biopsych as a biology course and see what happens.

What does your school count it as??... is it BIO 123? Is it Psych 167??? That is what matters, buddy! If it has Math, Chem, Bio, Physics in the course number, then it counts!

Thanks guys for your replies.

When we fill out the official aamc forms, I know that we get to match up courses with the appropraite category. So is there then a waiting period for them to be approved by a real person? Or, do you just hope that medical schools don't question your categorization?

Also, is there some way that I can find out for sure about how some of these courses will count before I actually fill out the official forms? Perhaps an email address of someone?

Thanks very much!
