What the F*CK is going on with the stock market?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
nothing says that real estate or stocks have to continue to increase in value. people treat them as such and are surprised when they don't. Sure, maybe over the course of 20 years or so they generally will....but we treat it as unadulterated fact that they will.

Funny though, CF, wunna those accounts is from a previous employer....pretty passive....no adviser calling me, etc...justa tax-deferred account (Hartford) that did really well thru about Mar 2008 without any active advisement.....literally down 30% in six months!

Yeah, I hear you brother. It's a confusing, difficult, and super risky investment climate right now.

itll be down another 30 percent if you dont get into cash now. You cant trust the market right now.. they are not even letting people sell short. Which is crazy to me. anyway i say screw the bailout let the chips fall where they fall and start over again. I agree with the dems.. and hank paulson I wouldnt trust his ass. he is one of the insiders on wall street he is impartial he used to be the ceo of goldman sachs for christ sake

Not super risky, just do the same stuff you did before the and keep doing it. If the market goes down, you buy stuff cheaper, when it goes up, you buy less.

Put the same amount of money away every month, and invest in the same type of funds every month. Make sure your well diversified and don't worry about the short term flux. If the gov't crashes and american money is worthless you got bigger problems to worry about than where to put you money

Anyone else holding onto stock in APPLE (AAPL http://finance.google.com/finance?q=aapl)? I bought low in Jan then sold in July with a nice profit. However, I bought back in last week at the "great" price of $140 per share. What a let-down today ($105 now). I actually was thinking about buying more this morning right before the House approved (Nancy said it was a done-deal the night before) the bail-out bill. Man am I glad I had to work early and all day long. I know things will get better though...maybe🙁.
