I've got my first interview on Wed. and I'm looking for advice about what I should bring along. Obviously something to write with/on, but should I invest in some kind of fancy writing tablet or document folder? Should I bring copies of my resume or any other documents?

Thanks!

This question is asked almost monthly since July, I suspect you can find a number of threads that contain all the answers.

I bought a leather folder thing with a writing tablet. I rarely used it during my interview day - mainly to make notes ahead of time w/ questions, etc.

I noted that most people did not bring anything with them (women brought purses, but other than that....). I did not need copies of any documents that weren't requested (a few schools asked for photos and/or other supplemental documents, but most did not). I only brought copies of my AMCAS and secondary applications for myself so that I could re-read what I submitted to be prepared.

Some people bring all sorts of stuff - mints for after lunch, 2nd pair of pantyhose (for women) in case you get a run, chapstick, etc. I just made sure I had my ID in case they checked (never did), money for lunch in case (never needed it), etc.

GL!!! :luck: :luck:

Bring some water- I dont know if this is just me, but I get very thirsty, on interview days- not sure if it's nerves or all the talking, but I would bring a water bottle.

If you coauthored a paper, bring a few copies of that.

Thanks everyone.

I'm all over that--I carry water obsessively wherever I go!

Is it acceptable to drink water during an interview? When I talk at length, or just when nervous, I get parched.

They probably won't think it's awkward or hold it against you.

If you know you'll get parched, take a botle. Better to be occassionally taking a sip of water than to have your voice constantly cracking or going hoarse.

Only if you drink out of one of these Bad Boys

(not my sale, just randomly googled 🙂 )

In many interviews they will offer you water or coffee. But if they don't I probably wouldn't bring along my own. The fewer props and distractions the better. Why risk being one good spill or dribble from an acceptance.

Don't forget to bring your smile and charm!
