Do you contact the programs or do they contact you. If so, when? If you are away from home, should you go home and wait for the contract to be sent to you so you can sign it and mail it? Any input would be appreciated.

God bless.

They will contact you, but do not expect it to be this week, or even next.

Generally, they send you a letter, congratulating you and informing you that further information will be arriving (ie, contract, housing info, orientation info, etc.). It may be a month before you get a letter so do not rush home and wait for it.

You can contact the program if you like, there is nothing wrong with that. If you need to know dates of contract being mailed, orientation starting, you can ask when you call or email.

ur asking what to do after you match?

YOU GO GET DRUNK AND HAVE RANDOM SEX UNTIL YOU DISCOVER THE NEW STD OF THE MONTH.....BE HAPPY..GO CELEBRATE, BEFORE U START YOUR 3+ YEARS OF HELL...

Yeah I was wondering about that too. I guess it depends on the program.

I found out today that I matched and exactly one week from now, I'm gonna be on a plane heading for a two week vacation in Germany and a few places in the Netherlands (Amsterdam & Rotterdam).

So if my program contacts me Thursday or Friday, great. If not, then maybe I'll try giving the PD or coordinator a call on Friday. Otherwise, I guess I'll be watching my email and checking my messages occasionally while I travel.

But of course I still have my priorities. Namely, having as much beer as possible over the next two weeks.

That sucks. You think after all the effort we put into applying to places (and all they effort they put into interviewing candidates), that they would want to contact the people who matched there within a month.

Has anything about this whole process made you think that its applicant centered?🙄

Now that said, I didn't mean to imply that all programs, or even a majority of them will wait a month to contact you. But you may not get anything significant (ie, contract, orientation materials, etc.) for a month or so.
