What to do if messing up elective?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Are you objectively performing poorly, or is there a chance it's all in your head?

Are you performing worse than the other people on the rotation?

Thanks for the reply.

Ya I heard people going into medicine saying they would rather do rotations at their home school because they will get owned by the other home-school sub-i that know the system in and out.

* issues with navigating a new hospital/system/admin problems: spend some time and get used to the system, ask your resident or the nurses how things work, watch what they do. you've had one week by now, you should have had experience getting adapted.
* can't answer a lot of questions: tough luck? you'll have to read about your patients. sometimes I won't know the exact answer so I'll say something like I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that blah blah (something closely related).
* difficulty handling patient issues: I'm not sure what issues are covered here

Anyway, do your best, maybe your last week you will have a 'good' attending. Have you talked to the residents/interns or the attending for feedback, say you know you're not doing the best, anything you can point out that I can improve on, I want to do well on this rotation, etc.
