I'm trying to figure out a game plan for what to do next, and this is what I'm thinking:

Sounds good. I'd try to at least volunteer beginning now instead of just spring 2011.. It might come off as "med school app check list" if u squeeze it in. And I know u will be doing EMT but volunteering somewhere else in addition will only help... Most commitments are ~4 hr/wk so not too difficult... Research I'd say can wait till spring 2011 if u have no time now for it... I'm just in postbac now though so it's not like i've been through an app cycle yet. Hope this helps somewhat..

I agree with SM - you should start volunteering well beyond when you want to apply in order to show that you really are interested in health care. I am unsure if additional classes would really do too much; if you do decide to take classes, might I suggest something like Physiology or Microbriology? You will need to take those in med. school anyway, so it might be nice to get some background.

Finally, apply as early as you can!
