Hi guys, I just received my second rejection this cycle from Wester University yesterday, where I just send a letter of interest to last week. My GPA is greater than 3.95 from a top school. DAT: AA 21 TS21 OC 21 GC21 Bio 21 RC 17 QR 26 PAT 21. I have around 70 hr shadowing experience and 500 hr various volunteering experience. I applied around late October and completed at most schools during the first two weeks of November. My fist rejection from NYU was around December, and I assume this fast rejection is due to my less than 100 hr shadowing experience. Also, there was an error on my AADSAS (a very obvious wrong number of hours under one of my research experience), but I did send email to each school to correct it. Should I retake the DAT if I do not get in this cycle? Would an oral surgeon's LOR help? Is it better to use committees' letter?😕😕😕

You applied late. Not much you can do to fix that.

Just pray that you get one of the few remaining interview slots or apply early later.

Your numbers seem fine. Possible red flags? (Poor LORs, criminal history, etc.)

I wonder how you identify your ethnicity in AADSAS. I'm starting to think that it makes a huge difference in terms of admission.

Also, yes.. you applied a little late. But, in terms of scores, your stats looks great! no need to retake DAT IMHO, just crank up your EC/ Shadow.

EDIT: Also, dude... it's not over yet. We still have some hope to get into a dental school this cycle. 🙂

I think applying late definitely hurts you here. I got a 15 rc but applied at the end of July so i was able to land some interview and acceptances.

But you should be happy that your dat score is quite high and I don't think you have to retake! 🙂

I don't think you need to re-take at all! Your stats are awesome! Good job 🙂

Try to get more shadowing hours done in the mean time (for plan B of reapplying), but also make sure you apply ASAP. I think that helped me out a lot with my mediocre stats. Best of luck!! Especially for this cycle! Hope you hear something soon 🙂
