I just found out that I've been put on the waiting list for LECOM-B. I didn't even know there was a waiting list this early in the process.

Couple of questions:

1. Do they ever take people off the waiting before before the deadline dates?

2. Should I be calling the place regularly to see what my chances are looking like?

3. Any advice?

This is almost worst than having a rejection letter.

haha,y ea i consider it worst than a rejection since you have to wait forever for a, most likely, rejection - better to just end it instantly.
as for ur qestions:
1. yes
2. i'd call about every month
3. if ur still in school, continue to update them.. if anything new is up (that may help ur app), update them.

lots of schools evaluate the waitlist every two weeks. just ask them what their procedure is. and it's not worse than being rejected!

I would definitely call and see how their wait list system is set up. Are you taken off in order of getting waitlisted or do they re-evaluate each file? Is it a ranked system.

Also, I would write a letter of intent. I do not know how much those help, but it couldn't hurt.

Good Luck!

LOI might be an option. Definitely call/write and update them every month.

I agree. Being waitlisted is definitely NOT worse than a rejection! Call them and find out how often they review/evaluate the wait list and go from there.

Good Luck :luck:

3. Any advice?...

There is both good news and bad news. The good news is that a bunch of people are taken off of the list each year at LECOM-B. The bad news is that is usually does not occur until after the interview season is over-- a long time from now. So...what can you do to improve your chances?

1) Write a letter of intent
2) Get more LORs
3) Update your stats with new grades and new MCAT scores (the single easiest way to improve your chances is to take the January MCAT and get a great score).
4) Win some awards
5) Do some volunteer work
6) Call the admissions staff every month to tell them that you are interested and send an update of something new to them.
7) Make plans for what you will do over the next year if you don't get into any schools.

I know quite a few people who got in off of the list and they all worked it very, very hard.

That said, I would try my best to get other interviews and acceptances. I think LECOM-B is a great place to be, but getting another acceptance does lot of things for you, not the least of which is it gives you a lot of relief because you know that you will be a med student somewhere next year.

I understand your emotions right now, but keep in mind that there are a lot of people who would love to be in your position. There are thousands of people each year who never even get an interview, much less get put on a waiting list. At least you have a chance.

Keep in mind that a lot of schools will be interviewing until April and they usually save seats for good applicants until then. Keep trying to get in somewhere, but also take the time you have to improve your application. Every little thing that you do pays off.

Hey, at least being on the waiting list now tells you you're better than the people they rejected immediately😳 They want you, you know it....👍
