What to do the summer after junior year??

Hi so I am planning to have my apps in by June 1. I was originally looking into various summer research programs (I have two years already at my home institution) but I noticed that they all want you to be Ph.D students, NOT MD students and I actually have no interest in being MD/PhD at the moment. I am wondering I should still apply (Im not the biggest fan of research but I see it as a necessary evil for my career) or look into other opportunities? I know that the summer is beneficial to have things to talk about in the interview as well as update them on. Also, even if I do not do research, I MUST do something that involves me making money (Im poor 🙁)

What would be good suggestions?
