Hi, even though I am still waiting for the verification of my primary application. I just briefly calculated my GPA.
1)Science 3.31
2)Non-science 3.62
3)MCAT 27P

Four research lab experiences, one publication pending. A few awards and scholarships. Moderate amount hospital volunteer. Great LOR.
I am a Canadian.
I have applied to 15 DO schools and the big 4 Carribean schools.

Could you tell me my chances at this stage? Could I get in at least one DO? I think I will start to receive 2' applications around Dec 8th. and I will finish them all in 5 days. So hopefully by mid-december my application will be complete.

I think you have a great shot at some schools. Especially in the coming weeks as people start withdrawing their apps after acceptances. :luck:

I would choose my schools wisely though. Look for schools that will die to have you and have missions similar to your own. Those that reflect your experiences. How to do that? I guess you have to snoop around on their websites and on SDN.

Could you substantiate your response a little, please?

You have a good shot with your numbers for DO, even at this stage. Just get your apps out asap. You will have a greater opportunity as applicants turned down offers and withdraw applications within the next month(deadlines for joining class are in early december).

As far as seeking out the schools that are a good fit may not apply to you because you have decent numbers and ECs. If you did I would seek out those schools that love research minded students like DMU, MSUCOM, UNECOM et al.

TCOM also has a lot of research going on. They are very in-state heavy so it depends on what your state of residence is.

I'm almost positive you'll get into the "big 4", but I would really think about if that is a good move. Sure, the islands are nice, but there are many downsides to going that route as well. As far as DO schools, you have a great shot too, especially since you applied to 15! Your stats are just about average and even though it's a little late I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I mean if you just applied, the only reason why you might not get accepted is because you applied late....

as far as your stats go, your golden for DO programs (and even MD), I don't think you should go to carrib this cycle...

If you don't get anything from any USA med schools this cycle, apply again next year (early) and all of us here would tell you, your odds will be MUCH higher

The primary application was complete on Nov 4th. I think by Dec 4th it is going to be verified, and hopefully within a week I will get 2' application. I will make sure to send in everything by mid December.

I think that your chances are good. Your MCAT is slightly higher than mine and I recently got into Osteopathic school.

Your list is really covering the entire spectrum of osteopathic schools. Just be sure to send in your secondaries WHEN you get them, as fast as you receive them because a lot of the schools try to fill the seats in their class sooner rather than later.

You should have decent chances to get into a DO school man. I just got in this week to DCOM and my gpa isnt stellar by any means. My MCAT made up for it a little, but with all that research if you dont even get an interview I would be very suprised.

Best of luck to you
