Okay so I just took my OAT today and I knew that I needed to do well in order to offset my GPA but unfortunately...that didn't happen.

AA:320 TS:320 sub 300 in physics.
GPA: 3.0 pre req, 3.3 overall (I went to a really competitive undergrad...although thats no excuse but i have a really upward trend!)

What to doooo!?
1. Should I retake the OAT?
2. My goal schools are WesternU and SCCO.
3. Should I apply early or wait for another semester (end of december) to bump my GPA up a little?

Thanks =/.

I'm in the same boat:/ 3.11 GPA with a 310 TS. 75+shadowing hours and lots of volunteering in the community. Absolutely terrified to apply. I would only retake the OAT if you know that you could improve upon your score.

Both of you should be fine, take a deep breath first though. Apply early, kill the interview, and make sure all of the things in your application are tidy/etc such as your personal statement.

Use SDN interview feedback and rehearse the questions on there in front of a mirror or with a friend. Really prepare your answers for the questions you know are coming and just be yourself at the interview. Show your passion for the field and you should be fine.

If you have anything to "explain" about your GPA, try not to make excuses but work it in a way that makes you look favorable. Most interviews I attended gave you this opportunity, or will come out and ask you about specifically negative aspects of your application. Just try your best to spin negative things in a positive or more favorable light.

Best of luck, you both should be able to get in with the right personal statement/interview success.

Completely agree with Veritas23- both of you should be fine. miumiuxx, if your undergrad was truly very competitive the admissions committees will see that and factor it into their decision, so don't worry about it that much. Also, 3.3 isn't horrible- Western's average admission last year was 3.1. Yeah your prereqs aren't so hot, but don't worry.

I agree with Veritas23 and Rhodopsin. I think you will both be fine.🙂
