I always struggle with what is or isnt worth holding on to from year to year in school.

So now that I've taken Step 1, is there any reason to hang on to notes (power point slides mostly) from the MS1 and 2? I figure I'd hold on to my annotated First Aid just as a quicky reference but do I really need notes I didnt even use to study for Step 1? Any other 1st or 2nd year books I'll wanna keep for some reason?

Thanks for the help guys!

I kept EVERYTHING. After moving across country for residency it seemed a little senseless. Subsequently, I threw out all of my lecture notes (still had the ppt files etc) but kept most of the books. Even those, for the most part, are too simplistic for use on a regular basis. That is, you get new, more detailed books for the field you go in to. Thus, Robbins no longer has enough detail for what you need. In retrospect, I wish I had trashed my notes immediately and sold my books after I was done with them.

i kept all of my notes.... but i came home this summer and was cleaning out my old room and found notes from 3rd grade, so not the best judge.

i didn't buy any books, except for netter's, and i don't feel like i'm missing them. i'd say whatever is going to be the fastest and best resource is worth keeping... and i doubt you'll ever get rid of the internet.

I saved every notes/problem sets etc. that I had from the minute I set foot in my undergrad. Since I didn't move between undergrad and medical school, they kept going into the same copy paper boxes. I moved for my residency 2 weeks ago and took out all the boxes. First, I weighed them, 262 pounds. Second, I got a little nostalgic over all of the Physics that I could no longer do. Third, I threw every box into the dumpster.

You will never re-visit your notes, especially your pre-clinical ones. You are unlikely to need to content of your notes and if you do, it is faster and more convenient to use the internet or a book.
