I've been reading When Death Becomes Life - Notes from a Transplant Surgeon by Dr. Joshua D. Mezrich. I had just shadowed at the solid organ transplantation department during one of their clinic days and this book has been really insightful. I especially enjoy learning about the history and advancements of organ transplantation research.

I just finished several books that (with one exception) have nothing whatsoever to do with medicine but everything to do with enjoyment:

1. A Gentleman in Moscow
2. The Women (historical fiction but it does have a medical angle)
3. The Guncle
4. The Falcon's Eye
5. Remarkably Bright Creatures

I just finished several books that (with one exception) have nothing whatsoever to do with medicine but everything to do with enjoyment:

1. A Gentleman in Moscow
2. The Women (historical fiction but it does have a medical angle)
3. The Guncle
4. The Falcon's Eye
5. Remarkably Bright Creatures

I loved A Gentleman in Moscow and The Women. Also enjoyed The Covenant of Water (but so long!!) which very much has a medical/surgical angle (the author is physician Abraham Verghese).

As an extra bonus, I found a playlist on Spotify with songs referenced in The Women. (1960s-70s)

I enjoyed the Covenant of Water too. Have you read The Tennis Partner, also by Abraham Verghese? Not necessary an easy read, but a really good book!

Anything you've been reading that moved you?

The book review of "Telltale Hearts" by Dr. Dean-David Schillinger sounds fascinating, especially for those in the medical field. I'll have to add it to my reading list! As for me, I recently read "When Breath Becomes Air" by Paul Kalanithi, which was incredibly moving.
