What to think of residents sending post interview thank you cards

I had two programs wheres the resident would send a hand-written thank you card with a nice message and that I would be a great doctor someday. Are these common or they mean that they have some interest in me since they took the time to write a card?

The resident is either that nice or it’s protocol for the program....don’t read too far into it

Never recieved a hand written note but plenty of emails. Have multiple friends get the same thing. Might not be super special guaranteeing a match there but they at least liked you.
