Hey guys, just wondering what is the best thing to wear when shadowing your optometrist. I am shadowing at a Lenscrafters this week. I was thinking black dress pants with a tucked in polo golf shirt.

Is that what most of you wore? Or shirt/tie? Jeans and a polo?

Thanks for any input!

Ask the doctor you'll be shadowing, ahead of time.

Wear your black dress pants with a dress shirt no tie. That's usually the safest way to go

I wore dress pants with a shirt and tie. This is basically universal clinic attire at all the schools anyways so might as well get used to it now.

better to be over dressed than under dressed and as everyone said above black pants and dress shirt is fine...tie is optional and a good look but not absolutely necessary esp for a commercial environment...people used to shadow at my job all the time coming in looking like hobos and the dr definitely noticed and made it impossible for some people to come back and shadow

Go with a dress shirt and slacks/dress pants. I say no tie, since you don't want to outdress the doctor. As someone who is shadowing, you don't want to be the center of attention by overdressing. You'll look neat and professional just with the top button opened, shirt tucked in, nice pants, shoes, and a belt. Have fun 🙂
