Anyone looking for a job next July? I'm a bit lost on how to do this; I am not the type to cold-call potential employers or just show up in the OR to say hi and schmooze.

Anyone considering locums? This is a serious possibility for me since I'm open to traveling around a bit and like the idea of getting my feet wet in different practice scenarios to figure out what I want in a permanent position. Plusses and minuses?

I'm from a fairly well-respected program in the Northeast and would like to explore the Northwest, Northeast, or maybe the Midwest. The majority of people from my program do fellowships and those that do get jobs straight out of residency tend to go for partnership-track gigs in the area.

This long-time lurker would really appreciate any feedback! 🙂

Figure out WHERE you want to go. Then figure out what anesthesia groups exist there (this can actually be difficult b/c many groups don't publicize anything on the web). Then you have to contact them whatever way you can: email, phone, etc. See if anyone at your institution knows anyone there and can introduce you. You must be proactive; the jobs don't find you.

Or do locums.

Or get a recruiter.
