I have the decision to make between Georgetown and Emory. I received a major scholarship from Gtown, but was planning to do HPSP anyway, but now Im considering loans for Gtown. I know I will be happy at either of these schools, but would I be better off at Gtown where Id prolly be in the upper 10% versus Emory where Id be 25-30%. I want to go into Orthopedics so I need to be competitive. Any advice, ANY would be helpful, thanks!

Either/or. Choose one. Be happy with the decision. Never look back or doubt your choice.

...The path to happiness :luck:

Sorry this doesn't help you...

I dont know anything about emory but I know that it is very hard to be in the top 10% here and I wouldnt count on it. Top 10% anywhere I would argue is equally hard. ANyways, Ortho is very popular here and the school prides itself on matching high numbers into ortho. Last year we had 17 I dont know the numbers for this year.

you gotta decide based on where you'll be happiest. that's really what matters; where will you fit in better?

and don't be so sure about how you'll be in the class; that ends up being the biggest surprise (and hardest lump to swallow) for a lot of new med students. top 10% is damn hard no matter where you are.

i just meant my mcats (and i know there is no correlation to how well u do in med school). i guess my question is that emory's students have higher mcats, and so ill be diluted in that pool. if i do equally on boards and school, does class rank affect residency match? Thanks for the input

....and my fam is on the other side of the country. Is ATL weather that much better than DC????

i was in a similar situation 4 summers ago. Full ride from baylor plus family in houston and already had signed a lease and everything...acceptance to hopkins. i decided to just go with my gut instinct because it was so hard to use my brain to make a logical decision. Good luck whatever you decide! :luck:

The climate is probably similar but DC is extremely humid in summer due to low elevation.
