What should I read up on? What should I do? More shadowing of Anesthesiologists? The few I met and was able to hang around only gave encouraging advice to pursue medicine/anesthesia.

So I figured best place to ask, is where all you guys are, so help out?

Hahahahahaha

Sounds like you want to be turned away from anesthesiology. You've come to the right place. SDN- Where the glass is always half-empty and the grass is brown.

This is too optimistic. SDN is more like the glass has shattered and you're bleeding death while standing on a patch of burning grass.

What I would tell them that is somewhat different than you normally hear:

Listen, your residency training will provide training and and it's up to you to make the most of it. Don't worry about the clinical training now, and focus like a hawk when you get there.

As for now, practice on a personal level relating to people. Learn to act confidently and communicate effectively. Work on your disposition and how you deal with stress and issues you may have with people. Like a lot of things, there is a lot of things that go into making a good anesthesiologist other than being good at the science and practice of anesthesia. Work on the intangibles for now.

My two cents.
