When did you really get involved volunteering, go abroad, participate in research, join an intramural, joined and/or led an organization, or worked?

If you were solid through and through, which year made the biggest impact on your application, pre-dental career, college experience, and you and a person?

I'm gonna need more than this guys. Speak up!

freshman, sophomore year I did nothing. I didn't even consider dentistry an option then...

I am getting ready to start my junior year, and this summer is when I have really started to become very active towards the requirements to enter dental school. This is when I started job shadowing, volunteering, attended a dental camp, and starting a pre-dental club at my college. The reason I am doing it this way is because I made the mistake of taking 30 credit hours worth while in high school. While I don't regret this, I do admit that it really sped things up. And I think most other students can relate that they didn't do much their first year at college due to settling in.

What did you switch from?

Double major! You saved a ton of time and money by taking those AP hours. You probably got into a really great undergrad too.

I pretty much tripled my resume during the summer before junior year to presently. I've participated in research since freshman year though.

Didn't mean to raise the dead, but I'm still curious about what people have to say. I like my poll threads. 😀

This is my junior year, and until last summer I had barely started any extracurriculars. Over the summer I shadowed my dentist alot. This semester I'm doing research for an anatomy professor, and I recently joined a few clubs. Next summer I plan to do a lot of volunteering and shadowing in specialties. I want to start a pre-dental club at my school because I think that would look really good, but I'm not sure if my college is big enough or if I have the time. Maybe next year!
