Hi guys what do you think about Nevada Souther University school of Pharmacy and Northeastern University School of Pharmacy in Massachusset. What are my chances of gettin to these two school with Undegraduate GPA of 3.52 and graduate GPA of 4.05.

hi i got so many A plus......to make the story short.

Still not making sense to me.... an A+ should be a 4.0. Does your school use a different scale, like a 5-point one? In that case, your GPA is average-to-below-average, and definitely unimpressive.

If I was on this adcom (and I've sat on similar review boards), I'd be immediately suspiscious of someone claiming a college GPA of over 4.0. I'd want to know the school (Matchbook U?), and the grading scale, and I'd have made at least a few phone calls to the school before even considering you for an interview.

Frankly, it sounds shady.

PharmCAS would readjust to make those A+s worth only the same amount of points as an A. So, I would recalculate your GPA regardless of whether you want to apply to non-PharmCAS schools or not to get a more accurate assessment of your GPA.

Hi, I still dont get it why you making a "big issue " out of this grade. Our schoool has a different grading scale:
A=4.0
Aplus= gives you an extra 0.05
A minus= take out an 0.05 from your 4.0
This is how it is set up, and believe me i am in one of the most competitive college in the country. In regards to ADCOM i think your comment sound irrelevent as far their application process is concern because they won't definately not let somebody with a bogus grade to decieve them.
But that is not my question here, and if you can't address my question then any subsequent comment is irrelevant, and i hope you guys vividly understand that. SORRY IF MY LANGUAGE SOUND HARSH

It's because there are very very few schools that award above a 4. And even so, that dosen't mean that the school you are applying at will recognize that extra .5 or whatever.

As Omnione listed above, an A+ is the same as an A. Therefore, your graduate GPA will be reduced to reflect that change in the GPA regardless of what your school does. Pharmcas will recalculate your GPA. But even if they did do that, I would imagine your GPA is still good enough to apply. Go for it =)

I "vividly" haha understand what you trying to say so I guess my comments are relevant...hurray
Your GPAs are solid, just apply and see what happens but a lot more goes into the admissions process than GPA so it is hard to say your chances. You have to nail the interview, write great essays with solid grammar and word usage...... and obtain strong LORs.

Why do you have bunch of "Nazis" in the Pharmacy section of SDN. I was told that some members only come here to discourage and castigate other fellow members. This is dangerous attitude and am sorry but some of you guys will undoubtedly make the worst "Pharmacist" for the society.
I do not come here to make enemies but only to seek sound and credible advice, and if you cant provide it then just let it go. I PEACEFULLY CLOSE MY CHAPTER.

This has been the first time I've seen Godwin's Law enacted in this message board. What a magical moment because commenting on your communication skills is clearly just like being the mastermind behind the holocaust.

Herbalist, I don't believe you give most of us sufficient credit for trying to help. This is a public forum; people have the freedom to post as they please. Whether they are rude or not, that's up to them; if you feel like you are being attacked, you can respectfully say so. However, referring to a bunch of us offensively or attacking our ability to become a member of our chosen profession is 1) not professional on your part and 2) very judgemental. You don't know these people who are posting here; it doesn't qualify you to make such statements. I think every single one of us who tries to become a pharmacist aims to be as good of a pharmacist we can be. Saying that we will become the worst in society is insulting to our efforts to succeed. There is no obligation for any of us to help out on these forums; we choose to do so.

Most people here on the board don't really care what you think about them, because they don't know you, and you don't know them. Out of standard societal courtesy, however, I would suggest thinking about being respectful to those who are trying to help you. If you don't like the people who you perceive are rude and discouraging, then just ignore their posts. Don't exacerbate the situation.

As far as I can tell, everyone's comments in this post were trying to find out more information or to provide feedback in a way so that they could help you. If you take the way we say things the wrong way, imagine what would happen if you are in a professional environment. It only gets worse.

You may want to work on your grammar and communication skills as well...

I actually didn't intend this to be as rude as it was taken. I'll rephrase it a bit. Pharmacy admission committees look for people who have outstanding communication skills because these are the skills that are necessary in a career in pharmacy. While I realize that this forum is certainly not a formal writing area, one can easily see when somebody has less-than-perfect control of language which is the foundation of communication. While your grades sound very good - 4.0, 4.05, whatever - A's in your classes are not everything.

That said, don't let words discourage you. If you want to go to pharmacy school, then make it happen. But be critical of yourself and your abilities - figure out your flaws and improve them. If you go to a pharmacy school interview with the same attitude that you seem to have in here, you're going to be disappointed. While some of what we are saying may seem harsh, it is none-the-less the way things are. An adcom will be much harder on you than we've been.
