What's competitive GPA? What GPA does an applicant need to have to be competitive?

For MD schools you can see that the lowest reported Median GPA of any school is 3.45 while the highest is 3.94. However the average for most schools seems to be around 3.8

Avg matriculant GPA is 3.71. Avg science gpa is 3.64 and non science 3.79.

To answer the OP: the competitiveness of a GPA depends somewhat on the MCAT. The minimum competitive GpA would be that GPA below which (for a traditional student) no MCAT could likely salvage it. I would say that number is around 3.2 but that depends on A LOT of other factors.
