My MCAT (and maybe other application stats) may not be the strongest comparatively so I want to make sure I submit asap.

However, I have an interview for a research job at a reputable research institution coming up on May 14th and if hired I'd love to add that to my original app without updating later.

Question: I'd probably find out about being hired by June, BUT I'd really like to submit May 5th/6th, even though schools won't see the app until Mid June. What do you all think would be a good path?

I am wondering about this too. Is summiting the app in May different than doing so in early June? Would appreciate some more input on this!

Interested in the same. I could apply May 5, but I'd rather have a few more scribing hours and a pre-req grade in by the time I hit 'submit.'

The usual strategy is to apply to a school at the bottom of your list of preferred schools, get verified, and then update + apply to more schools later on.

Just a heads up, most DO schools don't care much about research. This is not only what Goro has said but I talked to admissions at PCOM at their open house on friday and they told me they don't consider it much. They basically told me that the main time it comes into play is the interview.
So when deciding when to submit, consider that research isn't one of the first 8 things schools look at.

Most of my research is in primary care and patient centered medical home so I hope it will be at least a little important to schools

I think the biggest part of that is it shows interest in primary care. This is IMPORTANT to DO schools. A lot of people say they want to do primary care but don't back it up. It might be worth waiting then 🙂

A few weeks either way during the early part of the cycle is not going to make any significant difference.
