I'll greatly appreciate any feedback. In desperate need of help

GPA: UC School
cGPA: 3.47
sGPA: 3.20

MCAT:
Apr08 6V 10P 9B R 25R
Jan09 7V 10P 12B R 29R

ECs
1yr (and counting) Clinical Research: 2 publications (secondary author)
500+ clinical volunteer hours
250+ tutoring hours
3 year YMCA mentor
1 summer volunteer program (teaching spanish in guatemala in poor communities)
1 year membership to flying samaritans (hold free medical clinics in mexico)
many many academic and social clubs (high ranking in a couple)

It is obvious that retaking the MCAT a third time would be the fastest and have the most impact on my app but I really dont know if I have the time and motivation to go through with it again. my verbal score is a KILLER and I have never been that great with it. I did however manage to get consistent 9s on my practices going up to my second test date but I'm still not sure how I got such a low score. Would the MCAT be the only option I have? Some say if I take it a third time, I have to get at least a 32+ in order to compensate for taking it a third time. Many people have told me my ECs are already above average so improving even more will make little difference. My other options were applying to posbacs such as Georgetown and Drexel.

I think the main question is if I decide to NOT retake the MCAT, what is the best way to improve my app which I will be turning in ASAP.

if i don't get into a US MD, i am open to DO and even a foreign school. anybody hear about the australia medical school?

If you don't want to re-take the MCAT and you can't enroll in a post-bacc or SMP to raise your GPA, my advice is to apply heavily to DO schools. You can try your state MD schools, but for the most part, your stats are below the averages for allopathic matriculants.

f%^& if you don't WANT to take the mcat again or improve your gpa...that's what it'll take to get in.

and quit the "ASAP/fast" stuff. you might have to sit out one or two cycles if you are serious about this.

Getting your verbal up to a 9 would help. You are pretty strong for a DO school. If you want an MD school, try to take some more science classes and get your sGPA upto around a 3.4-3.5. Both of these efforts will help substantially.

Pull your GPA up by taking some more undergrad science classes. I'd also recommend an english class or something to help your verbal out because your other MCAT sections were average. Plus some schools will look kindly on upward trends, even if it takes a while. Good luck
