My school is introducing NBME subject exams for year 2 as part of our overall grades at the end of every class.

My plan for this year was to just focus on learning/doing well in my classes with minimal Step 1 work until Winter or Spring break. But now that they're doing this, I was wondering if it would be worth preparing for this, and what materials and study methods would you recommend to handle the NBME? I was hoping I could still just prepare for my classes and that would be enough.

doing well in your classes is a big part of it, but you should also do some qbank questions. I had several questions on NBME tests that were word for word the same as my practice questions

Our school started doing this with our class. I only used FA or uworld. Our course directors went through the questions before hand and made sure we had covered the question topic in class. FA and uworld is all you need but if you are gung ho, add goljan or pathoma (your choice)

I had nbme test as well. I basically used brs physio/pathoma along with class notes. It covered enough for me to get 90%+ on them. the questions are slightly more detailed than step 1 questions. A lot of the physio questions are concepts really well explained in BRS

What about immuno/micr, psych, and pharm. Use class notes + brs? Would you use brs along the way or the day or 2 you have after the class is done?

I think it's pointless to use class notes. Would you use class notes for step 1? Study the same way you would for step 1 but with only the subject covered for that test.

In addition to what others have mentioned, I found the pretest series to be really helpful. It's especially good for testing foundational knowledge and working on any weak areas.

I plan to do my normal studying routine for classwork so I can do well on those exams, and any extra time I have on a particular day I'll do questions from BRS.

Does this sound like a good plan or should I also read BRS or use uworld/first aid?
