What's the best way to use picmonic?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think it's best to first learn the material as you usually do with lecture notes/videos etc. after you've had a first pass, find the corresponding picmonic cards, listen to the classic and get a general feel for the card. run through the facts and definitions. then to test yourself attempt to recreate the picture in your mind or roughly on paper. that's worked for me

I used picmonic, and found I retained the material much better than the material I learned without using it. For each lecture, I would go home and just go through the slides on both the classic audio and then on the creative audio. After about 2 times through the material, I found I had it down. I would recommend it for Pharmacology, Microbiology, and for Biochemistry. Also, they do a good job on many of the tougher areas in Pathology, such as the tumors. However, I find that they are lacking in many areas of pathology and think Pathoma is far superior there. I will say you have to keep up with the cards, just like you would have to keep up with your classes. After a couple passes through, your not going to forget the stuff.

TL😀R, find the drugs/bugs/biochem from your lectures, and then go home and run through the picmonic a couple times.

Use it with anki.

eg: Have the title of the card as the question, and the card as the answer. This has been the most effective way for me.

I like using Picmonic with FA. FA is sometimes a bit barebones on stuff, and Picmonic helps fill in the blanks and make it more memorable. Using it with Anki is Awesome. I wish they had stickers that I could tape to my FA book.

I use it in conjunction with Uworld. If I'm doing a world question and if I don't know the Picmonic for it stone cold, I write it down and look it up later.
