What's the difference in getting observation hours verified for PTCAS vs. non-PTCAS?

Through PTCAS, I know that everything is basically electronic now, and you go on the PTCAS site and submit the PT's email, by which the PT clicks on the link and verifies the hours, correct?

And for non-PTCAS, do they generally want paper copies? I ask because I will be applying to both and I need to have this figured out. For the non-PTCAS, should I simply print out a form with my hours on it and have the PT sign it with their email and phone number?

And I have heard that for PTCAS, I cannot submit anything (observation hours, LOR, etc.) until the YEAR I'm applying, which will be 2016. Is this correct? Regarding that, perhaps I could keep a few physical copies of the verification stored away until I apply in 2016.

Thoughts?

It is correct that you can't send you observation hours, lor, etc. early. I made that mistake a few months ago and had to track everyone down again when the application opened up.

So are you saying you cannot add that information prior to the PTCAS application starting date, or prior to the year in which you intend to apply?

If you add it prior to the start date for PTCAS the year you apply (which is like July 1st of that year, I think) then it doesn't get carried over to the new application so it doesn't really exist. So I had hours verified because I didn't realize that so after July 1st I had to get them verified again.

I believe a previous year's cycle closes like June 1 and the new cycle opens up like July 1. So if you want to apply next year, you can start the PTCAS party in the summer.
