Hey guys. I thought that intermolecular forces between sugars is glycosidic linkage which is a covlaent bond. However, Chad stated that intermolecular forces between sugars are hydrogen bonding... why is that? Help me pleasee 🙂

Glycosidic linkage is the way 2 monosaccharides are bonded together to make a polysaccharides, whereas H-bonding is the bond from one molecule to another. (not molecules connected in a chain)

If I were to throw a bunch of monosaccharides into a bucket, the bonds would be H-bonding not glycosidic.

1st pic shows Glycosidic linkage.
2nd shows H-bonding between to molecules.
