I will let Sumstorm get on her soapbox and tell us all how to think, as usual. How do we ever live without her telling us how to breathe, and when?

I do understand what you are going through though. I as well went to the Hopkins of the vet world for undergrad and grad school.

While I do disagree with some of your opinions relevant to undergrad and vet school, and share mine if they are opposing, I really don't get what issue you have with me sharing my opinions. I really don't care how you think, and I believe everyone can believe what they want (and have defended that even when it is a concept I don't believe or agree with) and I certainly have never told you how or when to breath, though at this point I might have some suggestions.

I understand you are making it very clear that you don't want to hear any thoughts that I have, and I guess silencing others is easier than dealing with differences of opinion. I realize that you firmly believe that I do not add value to this board; if that is true, hopefully I will realize it very soon and spend my time being productive elsewhere. I would surely hate to waste anyone's time by 'forcing' them to read ideas and thoughts. I hope that everyone else's opinions and experiences are more valued (well, except perhaps Brody's.) If this is becoming a board where differences of opinion and experience aren't appreciated, it is certainly time to move on, but my experience is that most forum members want to know where others are coming from and how they would handle the situation, why else post?

Honestly, I actually really enjoy reading your posts. You have a lot of great info and experiences to share, so please continue regardless of what others think!

Just wanted to throw it out there that I've been bashed on this forum and I've thought about leaving over it. I gave my opinion on declaws and someone had the nerve to say that I should never be a vet, don't care about animals, and claimed that I've never worked in a shelter in my life (something along those lines, couldn't find the thread). I don't bash people when their opinions don't agree with mine, yet I get bashed all of the time.

Still here though... my life and experiences are no where near as exciting as most people's are here, but I still contribute, letting people know that they're not along and throwing in how I've been coping. If someone benefits from only one thing I've said the past two years I've been on here, than it's worth it.

I haven't been on the forums very long, but I thought that comment was meant in jest? Like how people joke about waiting for Twelvetigers to show up and link to previous threads where s/he linked to other previous threads because she does it so often...

I enjoy these forums because of the diversity of experiences represented here, and because of the civil and knowledgeable discussions about all facets of veterinary-related topics. There aren't many pre-vet people at my school, and we don't really know each other at all, so before I found these forums I was pretty much operating in a vacuum. I don't wish to see anyone - except blatant trolls! - driven off the boards (though I'm not sure if that's what's going on here, tbh).

I was the one talking about declaws, and that's not quite how it went. If I have a reputation on here, it's for longwinded editorials about shelter medicine, not for bashing people. In fact I was sharing an opinion and experience too, and I seem to remember you saying that billions of animals are dying in shelters anyway, so why bother to try to change it. Perhaps TT will link the thread for us 🙂

I think, sumstorm, that Caninerepro was making an attempt at humor, and that it got lost in Internet translation. I think your highly unique background and knowledge are an asset to the forums (you just told me how to grow an indoor garden... who else would know that?) and I wouldn't take CR's comment to be representative of how most of us feel about you.

Was clued into this by some friends. Yes it was meant as a joke. I guess y'all need to remember the comments were made by a guy, from the West, who gives animals hand jobs on a daily basis. I have been told I have the "magic hands" by many -- apparently my grand claim to fame, and my job so to speak. Theirs is to save all the mutts of the world, the ones that in my world are really probably not even considered "real dogs". And I am not an East Coaster, nor will I ever be. How is that for stereotyping myself? In the end we are all just first year vet students, the true grunts of the veterinary world!

I am sorry SS that I obviously hurt your feelings. 🙁 Really I am. PM me if you want to talk directly.😍

I really hope that you don't feel that way as well. As far as nature is concerned, it is your dogs that aren't "real." If natural selection were allowed to take its course, and "magic hands" like yours were not allowed to interfere, the mutts would win.

In defense of the original complaint about your comments, I would agree that your posts seem to at times lack tact, to put it nicely. I did not want to comment on this issue, but just read the thread anonymously, but your comment quoted above was just a bit too much to let go. Why even say that at all? You could have made an apology without such comments, and it might have sounded more sincere. If you know that tone can be misinterpreted on these boards, why not post more carefully?
That's all I have to say, I shall now step down off my soapbox.

Yeah well, I am not a fan of unplanned breedings. That is fair to say. However my origunal comments, the one's Summerstorm was objecting to, were a simply ribbing, one the two of us have engaged in before, and shall again henseforth I am sure. I will leave this discussion now so the rest of you can defame my name. I am OK with that too. My humor is not for everyone, and in the last post I was trying to make fun of myself. I guess it is true, and therio people really do have a "different" sense of humor. Oh well, I doubt any of us will ever meet in person socially.

Again I am sorry that my jesting appeared to cross the line and hurt her feelings. 😳

😳

Try adding a j/k...or a 😉, or even a 😛, rather than a sarcastic, eye rolling icon. This isn't the first time, and as you said, I doubt it will be the last. I didn't assumed the other comment with my name was meant sarcasticly or disdainfully, but yours is over the top, and goes beyond humor. There have been a fair number of things you have said on these forums that I could have viewed and challenged in the same manner, and remain untouched because it isn't worthwhile, and we are all entitled to our opinions (including your belief that you are superior in so many ways, best school, most eye opening past, most life experience, best future, anatomy god.)

The sad fact is that we, you and I and many others on here, will work in a VERY small profession, and will likely meet professionally, if not socially. While we may never go out drinking together, we may be presenting at the same conference, or attending the same CE program. Perhaps use some of that sarcasm on yourself; for me it is beyond a reasonable level. I do appreciate the apology.

*smirk*

We're like a bunch of siblings here - guaranteed to not get along 100% of the time, or even 20% of the time, but we're all in the same boat and, deep down, we're all on the same side and rooting for each other. Some of us just have strange ways to show it. :d

Sum, you know I appreciate your contributions to the forum. You put a lot of thought into your posts and offer sound advice.

CR, I can tell you'd have an interesting sense of humor in person, but that doesn't always translate to your posts. Please keep that in mind! Your posts are helpful too, and I'd like you to stick around... as long as you don't complain about CSU. 😉

Just my $0.02, a bit late because of the holiday. 🙂

Who asked you anyway? 😉

LOL! hope you had fun at the steelers/packers game nyanko (isn't that the game you went to?) i'm still bitter about wallace's game winning catch. 🙂

Oh it was amazing to be there for that. It was also very, very cold, but it was so worth it to stay to the end and see that play. I looked very confused in my Rodgers jersey + Steelers jacket, vest and hat + Penguins gloves and waving my Terrible Towel I'm sure.

Packers didn't need to win the game to make the playoffs anyway like the Steelers did to keep their season alive, so though I like the Pack (seeing Aaron Rodgers play was so awesome 😍 ) I can't say I'm torn up about my #1 team winning. 😉

I saw a shootout win by the Penguins in Buffalo the night before too. All in all, I couldn't have asked for 2 better games to attend. 👍
