hey i am currently taking physics this summer and by the time this school year comes around i will basically have everything done besides orgo and a few sciences
i will graduate this spring and i am planning on taking my dat in around august time (1 year from now basically). would that be considered late?
i will be taking orgo 1 and 2 this fall and spring as well as biochem. thats it and then i am all done so i really won't be able to take the DAT before i finish them in june.
i wanna know when should be the latest that i should take the dat if i want to be in dental school by fall 2020.

I would consider August quite late, especially since you have to wait for the official scores to be uploaded afterwards. At the very latest I'd try for early to mid July. You can definitely start studying for the DAT before school ends. I started studying during April and took the DAT the first week of June. I was finishing orgo 2 and biochem when I started to study, so I just started out lightly. If you start in April/early May you should definitely be ready to take the test by late July. Also, it wasn't super necessary to have taken biochem or ochem 2 before the test, as you can learn what you need to from study materials.

I second this

I would recommend having a DAT score in your hands by the time you apply. That way, you have a better idea of applying to what schools makes sense for you. I would probably recommend during Christmas break if you are ready by then, so that you can focus on school during your last semester, and then on the application during May and June. But it is better to take it only when you are ready. Schools prefer to see it once and done, and if you were to retake it, they may up their expectations.

I second this! Some applicants choose to submit before taking their DAT. That is risky if you score a 17AA

Applying with DAT in hand lets you know how many schools you need to apply to.
