With the idea of writing an article just for interest in school, I thought I would like to write about the most valuable or fascinating drug of the past decade (minus ED meds..lol) and why. Since there are quite a bit of experienced students, residents and practitioners on the forum, I would like to open the floor for nominations, and just include a brief reason why it would be arguably the most valuable drug.......Such as any drug in the past decade that significantly changed therapy of a disease state or so .....or is an 'unsung hero' of some sorts.....
Let me hear you opinions...:luck: Thanks !!

oh ok thanks! Will take that into consideration🙂

You can't go wrong with natalizumab.

It arrived in the US in 2004- led to significant improvements for MS patients who weren't responding to conventional therapy.

Then pesky problem with PML shows up, product gets pulled, patient advocacy groups demand return of drug to market.

FDA concurs, allows return of drug to market in 2006 with RiskMAP.

PML cases continue to escalate following return to market; patients are choosing to accept the risk of what is essentially brain rot to start or continue therapy, gambling that the benefits of therapy outweighs the risks.

From a health policy and sociology standpoint, it is absolutely fascinating.
