Quick question-sorry if it's been asked 100 times. A couple courses categorized as "Psych" at my school had the same, if not MORE, biology to them than many of my "bio" classes. I'm specifically talking about two psych courses listed as "Minds and Brains", and "clinical Neuropsychology". In both of these courses, anatomical and chemical structure made up most of the core material, and I feel it is a bit unfair that they won't get counted towards my AACOMAS science GPA. Could I list them as a Bio class, and hopefully have my AACOMAS reader check the courses (I don't know HOW...somehow?) with my school to verify that they DO have a ton of biology in them?

I counted my Neuro courses for my science GPA. They had the prefix of NSC at my school. I think you can list them as other science.

I took a neuroscience course offered by the psych department. I called it social science, because of the department. It was entirely brain function, but I didn't want to risk my application getting hung up by questions. It takes so long to be verified anyway (and I wasn't one of those people who submitted in May), so I did not take any risks.

I think it all pans out in the end. Some science classes are ridiculously easy, and some non-science are heavy on math or science.

does anyone have any insight at all at how the aacomas reviews even go about their business? As in, if I *did* say my class was better suited for Biology, would they even bother looking up a description? Or would they simply just re-adjust to to Behavioral science? I guess I just get a bit upset because I've taken Psych 101 and a few other Psych classes, and compared to those, these 2 classes in question were by FAR more biology-related. On top of it, my hard work was rewarded with an A, so while it does bump up my total GPA, it'd be nice to have that small boost to my science GPA :-/

I'm still waiting for my aacomas app to be verified, but I was in the same boat and marked them all as biology. Every single one went through unchanged on my amcas application. Hopefully aacomas is the same way.

I did the same thing back when I applied. Had one or two "neuropsych" courses that were essential neuroscience but offered psych dept and I listed them as science/bio on AMCAS and AACOMAS without a problem.

I thought I remember reading something when applying about if you courses like that to go by the course content and not just which dept they were offered under. Not really sure how much they look into specifics but I never had to send in a syllabus and they didn't change the designation after I submitted it.
