When are letter of recommendations generally due for medical schools? Are they required for the primary application or only requested during the secondary application?

If the deadlines vary, is there a website that compiles that information? I want to know so I can start asking for some. Thank you.

They are due with secondaries.

Schools vary widely in when they send out requests for secondaries. In general, most seem to take between 1 week and 1 month after your primary is verified (which I takes a couple of weeks - depends somewhat on when you submit). I do not know if there is a website that has this information or not. I think your best bet would be to follow the school-specific threads for the schools you are interested in. Also be sure to allow a little extra time for uploading/processing if you are using an electronic letter service.

At many (if not most) schools your secondary application is incomplete until they receive LORs. You definitely don't need to have them in for your primary (but it sure doesn't hurt).
